CITIZENS COMPASS— The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, yesterday, commenced grading of inner road at Olumo Community Development Association (CDA), marking a significant step in fulfilling a key campaign promise of the Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA)–led administration.
The intervention forms part of the administration’s GLORY Agenda, specifically the “R – Roads and Other Physical Infrastructure” pillar, which prioritises practical, community-focused road improvements aimed at easing movement, improving safety, and stimulating grassroots economic activities.
The ongoing grading exercise is designed to address long-standing accessibility challenges within inner communities, ensuring smoother vehicular movement, reduced wear on vehicles, and improved access to homes, markets, schools, and essential public facilities.
Speaking on the initiative, Chairman Aroyewun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to translating promises into visible action, noting that sustainable development must begin from within the communities.
“Our resolve has always been clear: development must be felt where people live, work, and trade. The inner road grading at Olumo CDA reflects our determination to honour our word and deliver infrastructure that improves daily life for our residents,” he stated.
The Chairman further noted that the exercise aligns with the THEMES+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly in advancing transportation efficiency, inclusive growth, and community development.
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA administration assured residents that the inner road grading programme will be sustained and extended to other communities across the council area in phases, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, while maintaining transparency and community engagement throughout the process.
Residents of Olumo CDA and adjoining communities have been urged to cooperate with officials and contractors as the works progress, as the administration continues its drive to build a more accessible, connected, and prosperous Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
