CITIZENS COMPASS— Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, on Wednesday, hosted its 7th annual Ramadan lecture with a charge to Muslims to control their thoughts and speeches at all times.

The Lecture titled, “A Muslim in thought, speech and action, was held at the Council secretariat.

The 7th annual event commenced with an opening prayer by Grand Imam, Sheikh Gazali Abdul Ganiu Abolore of Igbogbo Baiyeku Central Mosque, who prayed for peace, stability, and sustained development within the Council and the Muslim Ummah.

The recitation of the Glorious Qur’an was rendered by the imam of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA mosque, Alfa Mutiu Kamaldeen.

The Guest Speaker, Fadilat Sheikh Lukman Abdul Rasaq who dwelled on the theme of the programme said Islam is not just a religion but a way of life.

He urged Muslims to work on their Intelligent Quotient (IQ) Emotional quotient (EQ) and Recreational Quotient (RQ).

According to him, “Muslims should embrace the tenets of Islam. Above all, we must love one another, especially our family members. When it comes to religion, everybody should serve their God wholeheartedly, “

Speaking, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, urged the gathering to listen attentively and apply the lecturer to their daily lives.

Oba Adeboruwa said people should amend their ways and pray attentively.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Council Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, appreciated the royal father, religious leaders, management staff, and the entire workforce for their continued cooperation and dedication to service. He commended the management staff for their commitment to effective administration and reiterated his resolve to continue promoting religious harmony, staff welfare, and sustainable development within the Council.

Present at the event were the Grand Chief Imam of Igbogbo Baiyeku and the Council of Imams and the Chairman of Ikorodu North, Mayor Hamil Apanisile among others.

The Unified Igbogbo Baiyeku Muslim Association presented an award of appreciation to Aroyewun in recognition of his consistent support for religious activities and staff welfare.

The award was formally presented by His Royal Majesty, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, symbolising unity between the traditional institution and the local government leadership.

Similarly, the Unified Muslim Association of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA also presented an award to the Council Treasurer, Alhaja Shakirat Ajani, in recognition of her years of meritorious service.

Ajani is billed to retire in August.
