Ikorodu monarch welcomes Baby of the Year at General Hospital
…Says plans underway to become teaching hospital
Renal centre nears completion—Medical Director
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Ayangburen of Ikorodu in Lagos State, Oba (Engr) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, on Thursday, celebrated the arrival of the first babies of 2025 at General Hospital Ikorodu, presenting gift items to the babies.
Ayangburen expressed hope that the nation would earnestly overcome insecurity.
Citizens Compass reported that the General Hospital delivered three babies in the new year.
The First baby, a male, Oluwatofunmi AbiodunShittu, arrived at about 3:02 a.m.m, while the second, a female, Familiar Olubunmi Olofinkua, arrived at 4:03 a.m., and a male, Ololade Esther Fatai, arrived at 12:13 a.m. m.
The traditional ruler presented gifts to the babies charging the parents to give qualitative training to them.
The hospital management under the leadership of the Medical Director, Dr Taiwo Hassan, organised a warm reception for the monarch who eulogised the hospital for cleanliness.
Commending the hospital management, he said, “The monarch family doesn’t patronise any other hospital except the Ikorodu General Hospital.”
He also stated that there were plans to upgrade the standard of Ikorodu General Hospital to a Teaching Hospital.
In his response, Dr Hassan appreciated the Queen for initiating the idea of a Critical Centre.
Going down memory lane, Dr Hassan recalled when the Queen asked what he wanted and responded that he would appreciate a Renal Centre project, so he was linked to Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Olofin of Ikorodu, who, on their visit with the team, asked about the project plan, “he said, ” and that was how it started. “ He said.
He further said that the project, as it is now, is about 80 per cent complete and that hopefully by the first quarter of next year, it will be fully ready for commissioning and thereafter some other projects would follow suit.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the reception, the monarch said that the insecurity bedevilling the nation would soon be addressed as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is assiduously working to achieve this. “What we are seeing now about the economy of Nigeria, the President is doing his best and we believe that things will turn around for good. The insecurity we are experiencing is temporary because it will vanish soon.
When we experienced ‘Badoo’ in Ikorodu, we faced it and cleared it off. For instance, our boys who are doing 3:1, 2:1, have frizzled
It is a matter of time, all these pockets of insurgency we are witnessing will soon vanish.”
One of the special guests also donated cash items to two critically-ill patienta in the hospital.
