Jimi Benson inaugurates 2km Ori-Okuta Road in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS –The Lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Mr Babajimi Benson, on Saturday, inaugurated a 2-kilometre Ori-Okuta Estate/Idi-Orogbo road, Agric area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Benson, who is the Chairman House Committee for Defence, said the road construction was part of his campaign promises to the residents to vote massively for him during the election.

Citizen Compass reports that the road that connected six communities has been ravaged by flood while residents went through hardship for almost three decades.

“It is me that is supposed to be appreciating you for voting massively for me during the election.

“As I said, this is part of my campaign promises to bring the dividends of democracy to my people in Ikorodu,” he said

Earlier, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Lagos State Party Chairman of All Progressive Congress(APC) thanked the lawmaker for enhancing better living for residents, strengthening and contributing towards the growth of the party in Ikorodu.

He urged the residents to believe in their federal lawmakers as he continued to fulfill his own aspect of the promise made to improve the lives and commerce of the community.

According to him, the lawmaker has touched many lives as it reflects in the principle and philosophy of the APC party adding that Nigeria would get better as it moves towards the promised land.

He urged party faithful to ensure they revalidate their membership adding the tye revalidation exercise would commence soon

“I urge residents to take ownership of the project as it will enhance the betterment of the people.

“Party members should also re-validate their membership as the exercise commences,” he said.

Also speaking, Chief Murisiku Jaiyesinmi and Baale Ori-Okuta appreciate the lawmaker for quick intervention in the yearnings of residents of the community.

Also, Mr Anwoju Olumuyiwa, Chairman of Ori-Okuta Community Development Association promised that the association would take full ownership and maintenance of the road to make it last long.

Also speaking, Mr Gbenga Onayiga, a retired Director, of Federal Radio Corporation (FRCN), said residents had really suffered and spent N10 million to repair the road before the lawmaker finally came to their rescue.

Onayiga urged residents to ensure sanity and proper maintenance of the road adding that more than four lives have been lost due to the bad state of the road and thank God it has been a thing of the past.

“Today I feel elated because we have gone through serious hardship and spent over N10m in the past to put it in order before the lawmaker intervened.

“We have put in a mechanism to maintain the road so that we can enjoy it for a long time,” Onayiga said.
