Lagos to handover 270 home units at Egan to allotees 

…Commissions housing estate on Thursday 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS –Lagos State Government is set to commission 270 home units at the Egan, Ikotun – Igando Local Council Development Area of the Sta and hand them over to their allottees.

The handing over taking place on Thursday, June 6, 2025, is in fulfillment of Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s  pledge to complete all ongoing housing projects in the State.

Adeola salako, Director, Public Affairs ( Housing), disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

She said the Commissioner of Housing, Mr. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, in a recent interview with press men during the site inspection to Housing units said that by the first week of June 2024, the Estate would be commissioned and keys will be handed over to the homeowners after 21 years of the commencement of the project.

She said, “Akinderu-Fatai stated that the housing estate which is a critical project was aimed at providing affordable and quality housing for the people of Lagos. 

“He noted that the project was  faced with  numerous setbacks and challenges including large-scale vandalism and theft.

“Despite these obstacles, the Honourable Commissioner said the State Government was  committed to delivering this vital project to the people, hence the strategy of completion by cluster arrangements .

“We are thrilled to finally break through the barriers that have held us back for so long with the delivery of the first cluster comprising 270 homes ,” said Akinderu-Fatai. 

Also at the site, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Housing Engr AbdulHafis Gbolahan said that the preparation process has been completed by  May  31, 2024, paving the way for the official unveiling of the Estate on 6th of June 2024. 

He charged  all stakeholders, including contractors and  community members  to work together to ensure a smooth and successful delivery.

The Permanent Secretary further said that the State government is grateful for the patience, understanding and trust  shown by the prospective homeowners who waited for many years for the completion of the Housing scheme. 

 “We are confident that the end result will be well worth the wait,” said Engr. Toriola

Also joining the Commissioner for Housing, Honourable Moruf Akinderu-Fatai and Permanent Secretary, Engr AbdulHafis Gbolahan Toriola during the site inspection are the Director, Public Affairs of the Ministry , Mrs. Adeola Salako, Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Bolarinwa Kazeem, Director of Architectural and Building Services, Bldr. Ibrahim Olusegun, and  Director of Quantity Surveying Department, Mr Hakeem Ilesanmi.
