LASEMA gives update on alleged pipeline explosion in Aboru

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, urged the public to disregard a viral video claming pipeline explosion in Aboru area of the State. 

LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed this in a statement.

The video had surface online on Tuesday morning with a background noise claiming “help us pass this information to the world that there is pipeline explosion in Aboru, Agbado-Oke-odo Local Government, Adaba Sioni building. 

” You will notice a flash of petrol at  Pipeline, Aboru which has been ongoing for three hours. 

“We are in pipeline, Ola Mummy, Oju-Emi in Aboru. Help inform concerned authorities that we need their help. To avoid untimely death, help share this. 

” Our initial challenge is flooding, please, help us to counter this pipeline explosion to avoid mass death.” 

However, Osanyintolu countered this by saying, “The attention of the Agency was drawn to a widely circulated video of an alleged pipeline explosion in Lagos. 

” The agency has conducted an extensive investigation of all known locations alongside key stakeholders such as NNPC and their contractors. 

“Additional investigations have revealed that the video depicts an old event. We remain on high alert to manage critical incidents while urging members of the public to remain calm and make use of the free lines 112/767 to report potential disaster. 

” We ask that purveyors of fake news looking to cause panic in the citizenry also desist from such acts.

” Under the eagle eye of Mr Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, we remain prepared for the security of life and property. “
