CITIZENS COMPASS— A man was on Tuesday, rescued when he was trapped inside an elevator on Lagos Island, Lagos State.
The elevator was said to be malfunctioning thereby trapping the man.
Margaret Adeseye, Controller General, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in her updates, confirmed that the incident occurred at Freeman Street, Zapass, Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos Island
According to the updates: The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded to a rescue call received at 11:50 hrs on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, concerning an adult male trapped inside an elevator in a three-storey building located at Freeman Street, Zapass, Lagos Island East LCDA, Lagos Island.
The first response crew from the Ebute Elefun Fire Station arrived at the scene at 11:55 hrs and immediately commenced rescue operations. The trapped occupant was successfully rescued from the elevator without sustaining any injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate that the incident was caused by an accidental elevator malfunction. No casualty was recorded during the operation.
