My regret in Kuje Prison—Sowore
CITIZENS COMPASS— Former presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has expressed regrets over the level of injustice in Nigeria.
The human rights activist lamented that the voiceless, downtrodden and Nigerian masses are left to languish in prisons over trivial offences while the high and mighty Nigerians with questionable characters walk freely in the public.
Sowore took to his X Handle popularly known as Twitter yesterday, to share his experience shortly after he was released from Kuje Prison, Abuja.
Citizens Compass reported that the human rights activist spent four days at Kuje following his re-arrest by the Nigeria Police Force.
He wrote: There’s nothing more painful than seeing innocent people left behind in prison. When I was being released today, I felt guilty because I left behind children or adults whose only “crime” is being poor or voiceless while the powerful walk free. It’s a brutal reminder that justice in Nigeria is often broken and sold. Every wrongful imprisonment steals time, hope, and dignity, and that’s why the fight for justice must never stop. #RevolutionNow
Citizens Compass reported that Sowore was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for his role in the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja on Monday, October 20, 2025.
He was charged to court and granted bail but the Police immediately re-arrested him making him to spend four days in Kuje Prison.
He was released alongside Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanson Kanu and 11 others.
Citizens Compass reported that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) is being detained by the Federal Government.
