CITIZENS COMPASS— The Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF) Worldwide on Thursday, called for active participation in Nigerian politics.
YIF in a statement said this became necessary as the nation enters its campaign year towards the 2027 general elections.
The statement was signed by Sanjo Olawuyi, YIF Director of Communications And Strategies, on behalf of the President, Dr Olumide Aderibole Philip.
“On behalf of the executive members and Board of Directors, of the Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), we greet Yoruba sons and daughters both home and abroad on the occasion of the New Year, 2026.
“In Nigeria, this year is unique in the sense that it is a campaign year which will usher in the election year. Therefore, let us move closer to Almighty God to perfect everything.
“Yorubas should not be left out of this grace as we should use every opportunity at our disposal to reposition the country by taking up new roles as the case may be.
“Let us participate actively in the forthcoming general election and encourage our households to follow suit.”
The President enjoined Yorubas to value their leaders adding, “Let us value our leaders.
“Like our name suggests, let us demonstrate the name, “Omoluabi” by adding value to the Yoruba race. An “Omoluabi” should not be seen at gatherings capable of pulling down fellow Yorubas. Rather, we should encourage our leaders with spirited proposals, advice and prayers.
“In order to mitigate against challenges in this year, we need to expand our network, work collaboratively and apply modern day technical skills in our career and businesses.”
