Police arrest driver involved in Anthony Joshua’s accident 

…Nigerians blame FRSC

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday, confirmed the arrest of the driver of the Lexus SUV conveying the boxing legend, Anthony Joshua, who was involved in a fatal accident on Monday.

Anthony Joshua was onboard of the vehicle alongside three others but two of them died on the spot while the third was injured.

Anthony Joshua has since been discharged from the hospital following the injuries he sustained.

The accident occurred in Makun, near Sagamu, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest in a statement noting that investigations into the accident were ongoing.

The driver of the Lexus SUV in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case is currently in custody. Investigations are ongoing,” the statement read in part.

Recall that the accident occurred on Monday at about 11 a.m. around Danco axis of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, when the Lexus SUV, with registration number KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck.

The crash claimed the lives of two occupants of the vehicle, identified as Ayodele Kelvin Olu (36), a Nigerian–British citizen, and Ghami Sina (36), a British national.

Meanwhile, the Lagos and Ogun State governments had announced the discharge of Anthony Joshua from the hospital following the tragic incident.

The driver’s arrest was greeted with criticism as social media influencers criticised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for failure to evacuate the stationery truck along the Expressway before Anthony Joshua and other occupants rammed into it thereby resulting in the fatality.

Citizens Compass reported that Anthony Joshua recently defeated his friend, Jake Paul in a fight which broke the latter’s jaw.

In a viral video, Jake Paul’s mother, Pam Stepnick, said she would never forgive Anthony Joshua for breaking her son’s jaw and failing to visit him at the hospital.
