CITIZENS COMPASS— Former militant commander from the Niger Delta region, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on Thursday, donated 25 vehicles to support the campaign for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tompolo is the Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
The High Chief announced the donation through his representative, Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, at the inauguration of the movement’s Ekiti State chapter in Ado Ekiti.
“Today, we have an economy that is stable because of President Tinubu. Today, governors have money to pay salaries and pensions, and they have money to execute projects because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose to be bold enough to remove petrol subsidy and to implement the reformative policies he put forward,” he said through Pondi.
Tompolo said the vehicles would support door-to-door campaigns and voter mobilisation across polling units, wards, local government areas, constituencies and religious centres.
He urged members of the movement to use the vehicles and campaign materials responsibly to promote Tinubu’s re-election and his administration’s reform agenda.
Speaking at the event, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed confidence in Tinubu’s support in the state, urging voters to give the President at least 80 per cent of the votes in the 2027 election.
Oyebanji said federal government support had contributed to his administration’s projects and programmes. He recalled that the All Progressives Congress received 85.7 per cent of votes in Ekiti during the last election and expressed hope for another strong showing in 2027.
“My plea to Ekiti people is this, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win in Ekiti is not in contention, but by how much?” the governor said.
He also cautioned against voter apathy, urging campaigners to reach eligible voters who possess Permanent Voter Cards but did not participate in previous elections.
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, also commended Tompolo for extending the campaign movement’s activities across the country. He argued that Tinubu’s re-election would help sustain programmes being implemented by the Oyebanji administration.
Earlier, the movement’s National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku, urged residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for Tinubu.
