Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate celebrates eight years of achievements 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, yesterday, outlined some of its achievements over the past eight years.

Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate, situated along Igbogbo-Baiyeku Road, showcased its achievements as it rounded off its 8th anniversary within the Estate in grand style.

The grand finale had members of the Estate and well-wishers, who featured in the live long event.

Though the event ran behind schedule, it was full of fun with wining and dining.

The 8th anniversary kicked off on Saturday, December 20, with a football competition which was held at the Estate premises in the morning.

Citizens Compass reported that the football competition ended in 1-0 in favour of the two-bedroom flat against the One-bedroom flat.

The second day of the anniversary featured free medical check-up, product exhibition and fun games on Friday, December 26.

The grand finale featured a Dance Drama presentation by the Estate youths and a dancing competition at various levels, including a royal dance, and prizes were given to the winners of each category.

The Chairman of the Adeboruwa Housing Estate Community Development Associations (CDA), Lion Hammed Bolaji Musa popularly known as Young Boss, welcomed and appreciated the attendees. He thereafter gave reason for the low turnout as referenced to the Eyo festival in Lagos as it involves especially, the traditional ruler of Igbogbo Kingdom in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, whom the Estate/CDA is named after, and the Council Chairman of IBLCDA, Omo’ba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun who were expected among others.

He said that the Head of the Agriculture Department had left after waiting for over an hour when the programme ought to have commenced, but for the lateness.

In his speech, he itemised the community achievements, ranging from solar street lighting, which numbers over 20 pieces spread across the Estate.

Other achievements according to Young Boss included making the estate popular by linking the community with the Ministry of Housing, painting of the facility, introduction of new security devices to boost security services, elimination of 3rd party service on utility particularly on refuse collection and electricity billings. He said the Estate won a football championship at the local government’s “Oba Adeboruwa Cup”

He appealed to members to cooperate with the leadership so as to foster more development in the Estate.

Further, he announced the Community’s next agenda, such as a facelift to its sports arena and youth center, amongst others.

“Over the past years, our team has worked tirelessly to transform our estate into a model of growth, cooperation, and resilience. Together, we have:

Generated funds to procure and install solar street lighting, ensuring safer and brighter nights.

Established a firm ground for our estate’s recognition and operation at both the state and local government levels.

Built a strong relationship with the Ministry of Housing especially the

current Permanent Secretary which led to the replacement of our estate gates and repainting works that uplifted our environment.

Improved facilities maintenance and security, making our estate more functional and secure.

Partnering with a network provider for internet connectivity.

Prompt issue resolution, fostering trust and harmony among residents.

Ensuring uninterrupted services for refuse collection and electricity.

Celebrated victory as the Oba Adeboruwa football team emerged first

in the previous edition of the LCDA Chairmanship football competition

Construction of speed bumps and Improved welfare for residents by ensuring registration for notable

federal government grants and securing benefits from such programs

These achievements are not mine alone; they are the result of a collective effort, dedication, and unwavering support of every stakeholder.”

The Estate chairman mentioned Future projects to include:

Constructing a sports arena and event hall, creating a hub for recreation, unity, and celebration.

Others are continuing the Light-Up-the-Estate project with more solar street lights, bringing healthcare closer to our residents by refurbishing and making operational our estate clinic, and further construction of walls in the Estate.

He appealed for more cooperation and support.

Speaking, Mr Adeniran Ademola, a Deputy Director, who represented the Permanent Secretary of the Housing Ministry, Engineer AbdulYafiz Toriola, reeled out the “Dos and Don’ts in Lagos estates admonishing residents to ensure they keep the environment clean, to meet the aesthetic Jakande standard. He added that they should be involved in Estate engagement meetings as their environment would be up for inspection services.

In attendance were IBLCDA Vice Chairman, Barrister Ade Ayeni, Former IBLCDA Chairman, who is presently Baba Oloja of Igbogbo Chief Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, chairmen of Community Development Associations (CDAs), under the Community Development Committees (CDC), Zone 4 (IBLCDA), representatives of Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club, and a host of others.

The event was capped with awards for distinguished stakeholders.
