CITIZENS COMPASS— The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, on Thursday, endorsed the candidature of the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 elections in the State.
Similarly, APC chairman in Lagos, Cornelius Ojelabi, and some other key stakeholders in the party have endorsed the candidature of the deputy governor.
The endorsement was done on Thursday, ahead of the APC primaries to be held soon.
Hamzat, accompanied by members of his campaign team, met Ojelabi and his State Working Committee at the state secretariat of the party while he met Obasa and a former lawmaker who represented the Lagos senatorial district, Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), at their respective residences.
During the visit, Obasa disclosed that his stance on Hamzat was the directive of the President and national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, who directed that they support the governorship ambition of the deputy governor.
He noted that anyone who critically examines Hamzat’s background and experience would be convinced that Lagos would remain in capable hands under his leadership.
The Speaker said: “I just came back from Abuja yesterday, and nothing has changed. And that is why we are here to support the position of our father and leader in the interest of the incoming governor, Hamzat.
The most important thing when it comes to elections, and particularly about showing or whatever you say, uncover the truth, is to be correct.
And that is why we are here. You know, through interaction, we know the direction to go and what steps to take. So this is very important.
And we in Agege, we are in support of humanity, and this is Agege, and there is no other Agege anywhere. As we have said, our leaders have said, we work together, we decide together, we make decisions together. And it has always been like that up to this moment.
There is no one in any position in Agege that would not come together and say yes. There is no one. And that is what we have been doing.
