CITIZENS COMPASS—Barely a year after ascending the throne of his fore fathers, the Oluyemowo 1 of Elepe Kingdom, Igbogbo- Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekoyejo Omotayo, has joined his ancestors.

He was the Baale of Elepe Kingdom for over four decades before his ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

The late monarch was installed by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The Council Chairman of IBLCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, announced in a statement, on Monday, that the monarch has joined his ancestors.

“On behalf of the good people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, I commiserate with the Royal Family of Ẹlẹ́pẹ̀ Kingdom, the entire people of Elepe Kingdom, and the whole of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA on the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulganiu Adekoyejo Omotayo (Fidimolu of Elepe), who passed on Friday 29th of August, 2025.

“HRM Omotayo’s life was one of uncommon devotion to his people. Having led compassionately as the Baale of Elepe for over four decades, his enthronement as the substantive King of Elepe Kingdom a year ago was a divine crown to his many years of community development service, quality representation, and selfless leadership.

“The late Kabiyesi meritoriously discharged his roles as a custodian of our culture and traditions. We were blessed to have the late Kabiyesi as a community leader of repute as he consistently worked for peace, progress, and development within Elepe Kingdom and across our LCDA.

“We take solace in the fact that he led a fulfilled life of impact, attaining the blessed age of 85 years with grace, elegance and nobility.

“As we mourn, we also celebrate the life of a monarch who gave his best to the service of humanity. I pray that Almighty God grants us the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

“Adieu to our great King, HRM Oba Abdulganiyu Omotayo.”
