CITIZENS COMPASS— A supposed Nomination meeting by Fidipote Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has reportedly ended in praise songs for the popular Fuji maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde popularly known as K1 De Ultimate.

The much-anticipated nomination of candidates to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland was not mentioned at the meeting which was held at the palace of

The Olori Ebi, Fidipote Ruling House, Oba Tajudeen Kolawole Omotayo (Onimope of Imope-Ijebu), on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Citizens Compass reported that the Fidipote Ruling House had written the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, insisting that it was the next to produce a candidate for the Awujale stool following the inability of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to meet the deadline.

The meeting of the Fidipotes began with an opening prayer by one of the wives of the Ruling House.

The meeting, which was streamed live and monitored by Citizens Compass, was declared open by the Family Head, Oba Tajudeen Kolawole Omotayo, who insisted that the musician was a member of the Ruling House.

Citizens Compass observed that Wasiu Ayinde was conspicuously absent from the meeting, a situation that hasraised questions from many quarters.

As the meeting progressed, an elderly man walked in who was later introduced as Alhaji Adamson, an oldest member of the family.

Speaking, Oba Omotayo said: The main agenda for today’s meeting is to address the rumour making the rounds about our son, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, the Olori Omo Oba.

We are dissatisfied with the various information on social media concerning this.

We seize this opportunity to announce to the whole world that Wasiu Ayinde is our son. Incase anyone is in doubt, they should attend the next family meeting of this ruling house to clear their doubts.

We don’t want outsiders to criticise him because the essence of this meeting is to endorse him as a member of our family.

He is not a bastard as he is a member of this family.

Corroborating Oba Tajudeen Kolawole Omotayo’s assertion was the Akowe-Ebi (Secretary to the Family), Prince Tunde Aderibigbe, who informed the sitting about Wasiu Ayinde’s efforts in renovating the palace of the Family Head and doing other Sundary things for the family.

“Wasiu Ayinde is the one who renovated this palace.

The meeting of this Ruling House takes place every 2nd Sunday of the month. I enjoin anyone in doubt about the lineage of Wasiu Ayinde to attend the meetings to find answers to such questions..”

The Secretary to the Fidipotes informed the sitting that there was a document to provide information about Wasiu Ayinde’s lineage.

“We have a written document to buttress our points. Any contrary information posted on social media is null and void.”

Another member of the family simply identified as Tubosun, corroborated Prince Aderibigbe and Oba Omotayo’s assertion and warned bloggers to be mindful of what they post about the Fuji maestro.

The meeting was attended by Prince Adedoyin Adebayo, the Abolore Olotupa among others.

Findings by Citizens Compass revealed that in anticipation of his declaration for the royal position, Wasiu Ayinde had sponsored some family members to perform the 2025 Hajj in Mecca.

Despite the praise singing, Wasiu Ayinde was conspicuously absent at the meeting.

Citizens Compass reported that the Fidipote Ruling House had written to the Ijebu Ode Local Government Area and Ogun State Government to overturn the right of the eligible ruling house, Fusengbuwa, to the vacant Awujale stool.

This was conveyed in a two-page letter addressed to the Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Recall that the letter was co-signed by the Head and Secretary of the ruling house, Oba Tajudeen Omotayo and Omooba Tunde Aderibigbe, where the family declared its eligibility to present candidates for the vacant stool of the Awujale.

The Fidipotes cited the expiration of the statutory period allotted to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House under the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law, 2021 and the Awujale Chieftaincy Declaration of 1959.

It said the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, which was first entitled to present candidates, failed to do so within the 14 days prescribed by law.

Recall that the Fuji maestro has sought an order of Interim Injunction listing the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman, Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and Chairman, Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi as Respondents in the matter.

The motion, with Suit No Hc3/238/25 in the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division, Holding at Ijebu-Ode, was dated December 16, 2025.

The Suit restrains the Respondents, either by themselves, their Privies, assigns, agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any step in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit in this matter.

The Suit has Otunba Wasiu Olasunkanmi Ayinde Adesanya Marshal as the Applicant.

Citizens Compass learnt that a few days before filing the Suit, the Wasiu had sought the cooperation of some elders in the Fidipote Ruling House to meet with some aggrieved members of the family but the meeting was inconclusive due to certain factors.

Meanwhile, a source in Ijebu-Ode which pleaded anonymity told Citizens Compass that the December 20 meeting was organised by a caucus in the family particularly the loyalists of the Fuji maestro as many family members did not support the ‘Kangaroo’ meeting.
