CITIZENS COMPASS—Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Omotola Odunsi, is dead.
Her colleague, Bakare Zainab, disclosed this on her social media handles on Friday.
The cause of the death remains unclear as at the time of filing this report.
The post reads, “Goodnight. Omotola rest well.”
Another actress, Ashabi, who has a child with singer Portable, also expressed her shock and sadness over Omotola’s passing. In an emotional Instagram post, she reflected on their last meeting and the plans they had made together.
She wrote:
“Omoh dis one shock me oooo aunty tola. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. Saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy and we promised to feature each other in our next project, but now u laboured and didn’t wait to reap what life sef.
I remember nights you do chat to give me hope and advice, most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true GOD, we can’t question you oooo death is deep.”
Omotola featured in the Yoruba film Lisabi alongside actor Lateef Adedimeji. Her passing has left many in the industry and among her fans heartbroken.
In another sad event, popular fish entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, widely known as Fish Magnet, was attacked and killed in Anambra State. Witnesses reported that unknown gunmen shot him in the leg and kidnapped him from his home in Awka South Local Government Area.
Reacting to the news, Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko shared her pain on Instagram, calling for improved security in the country. She expressed how deeply the tragic incident had affected her.
