Resident cries out as traditional ruler, residents flee communities over insurgency
CITIZENS COMPASS— A concerned resident of Kwara State has cried out over a recent insurgency that has left some communities deserted in the State.
A trending video on TikTok captured the communities in a shadow of itself as all occupants have fled the area.
The video identified the area as Oro land.
The background voice in the video said that the residents fled the area after many of them were kidnapped and killed during incessant attacks.
The male background noise said: “If anyone had told us that we would witness what we are witnessing at the moment in Oro land, we would have said it’s impossible.
With the recent statement of our paramount king, Oba Johnson Olanrewaju Dada, I think the situation we are in Oro-Ago District of Ifelodun Local Government in Kwara State, is beyond us. We must confess that the situation of insecurity in our domain is beyond us.
This is our community but it is now deserted as people have fled for their lives leaving behind their property, farm and businesses.
A place that was blossoming for commercial activities has been deserted. From here to Oke-Ora down to Iragan, that is how you see houses closed.
I think this is beyond us, some of our community members are in the bush, they have been kidnapped and we don’t know their situation.
It is saddening, we are worried and threatened.
We are appealing to the Kwara State Government, the Federal Government and concerned authorities to come to our aid.
We have never witnessed this type of situation. They chased us away from our farms and we thought it would soon be over but see us now. Oro-Agan, Oke-Oyan, Kajola, are deserted.
The government should do the needful. We preempted a reprisal attack.
This is Ajegunle community, the same applies to Oro-Ago, Omugo, Okedaba, Ajegunle, Owa, Irabon and Oyate.”
