Wasiu Ayinde: Family members react to Letter of Discontinuance

CITIZENS COMPASS— Some aggrieved members of Fidipote Ruling House on Wednesday, rejoiced over the withdrawal of the Suit No Hc3/238/25, filed by Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division restraining the Ogun State Government and other Respondents to continue with the process to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

The Suit sought an order of Interim Injunction listing the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman, Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and Chairman, Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi as Respondents in the matter.

Recall that the motion, with Suit No Hc3/238/25 in the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division, Holding at Ijebu-Ode, was dated December 16, 2025.

Recall that a notice of discontinuance dated December 22, 2025, and filed at the High Court in Ijebu Ode stated that Ayinde had formally declared his intention to discontinue the matter.

Citizens Compass reported that the Suit restrains the Respondents, either by themselves, their Privies, assigns, agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any step in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit in this matter.

However, the presiding judge of High Court 3, Hon. Justice A. A. Omoniyi, yesterday, held that the Interim Injunction prayed for by the applicant lacked merit.

Recall that Ayinde had prayed the Court to restrain the respondents from proceeding with the processes to select candidates for the Awujale stool.

Following the withdrawal, it was jubilation galore among some aggrieved members of the Fidipote Ruling House who have hitherto stood against the candidature of the musician in the selection of candidates for the revered stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland in Ogun State.

Some of the aggrieved members have taken to social media platforms to rejoice over withdrawal of the Suit.

One of them who spoke with Citizens Compass under the condition of anonymity posited that they have been vindicated. “It is a pity that the love of money tends to be at the center stage in some families.

“Immediately the candidature of Wasiu Ayinde was mentioned, some of us kicked against it because it would tarnish the image of our family. Despite the fact that it is not the turn of Fidipote Ruling House to present a candidate, our elders went ahead to support an unqualified candidate. There are some other qualified candidates in the family but our elders turned deaf ears to them because they are not as wealthy as the musician.

“Some of our elders have been blindfolded with money, a reason they supported the musician despite that he was not qualified.

“Those of us that rejected the idea were quickly expunged from the family platform but as God would have His way, the truth is gradually unfolding to the whole world.

“Many thanks to the state government for suspending the selection process and we hope that the ruling houses would learn from this.

“Today, we are thanking God that the truth has prevailed.

“Our elders claimed that they were following the footsteps of our ancestors forgetting that at no point in the history of Fidipote Ruling House was such a claim ever made by our ancestors. Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde never raised his declaration on the family platform. Who and who unanimously chose Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde as a candidate for the Fidipote Ruling House when it is not the turn of Fidipote Ruling House? I wish to place it on record that I was not informed of this development before going public and so, you cannot shave a man’s hair in his absence. I know nothing about this movement hence, I am not a party to it.”

Citizens Compass reported that no fewer than seven family members have been expunged from the family platform.

The most recent one was a notable politician in Ijebu-Ode.
