
Yoruba Indigenes Foundation mourns Olubadan
CITIZENS COMPASS—A socio-cultural Yoruba group, Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF) Worldwide on Monday, mourned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland in Oyo State, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The monarch joined his ancestors on Monday.
YIF in a statement on Monday, described the monarch as a symbol of peace in the Yoruba race.
YIF President, Dr Olumide Aderibole Phillip, in the statement, commiserated with the royal family, the people of Ibadan, Oyo State, and the Yoruba nation in entirety.
He said, “The Olubadan was recognised for his intellectualism and contributions to various fields, including education, governance, and national development.
Within his short reign, he made a positive impact and contributed meaningfully to the growth and development of Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria at large. The Yorubas will miss him for his wisdom and elderly advice.
“He will be greatly missed.”
The monarch joined his ancestors a few days after his 90th birthday and before a planned celebration of his first anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
