CITIZENS COMPASS— The Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, yesterday, announced Monday, December 15, 2025, to select candidates for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
With the announcement, expectations are rife as residents, indigenes, and members of the Ruling House look forward to this great day.
This is just as the Fidipote Ruling House has suspended an important meeting which commenced on Thursday and was meant to continue on Friday.
Recall that the Fusengbuwa Ruling House is expected to field a candidate for the vacant stool.
The Fusengbuwas disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Abiodun Adesanya Ogidan, and made available to Citizens Compass.
The statement with the title, “Fusengbuwa Ruling House Notification of nomination for the Awujale throne”, reads:
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House wishes to formally notify all family members and stakeholders of the scheduled nominations meeting for the Awujale of Ijebuland, to be held as follows;
Date: Monday, 15th December, 2025
Venue: Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode
Modalities for the Nominations meeting
Strict Access Control: Only accredited family members will be granted entry into the hall.
Candidate Representation: Each candidate shall have two (2) representatives permitted to enter to nominate and second their candidate.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House implores all family members and accredited representatives to conduct themselves with utmost peace, respect, and orderliness befitting this sacred process. This nomination event concerns the revered throne of the Awujales, the Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, and must therefore, reflect the dignity and unity of our illustrious lineage.
We offer prayers that the collective efforts of the Fusengbuwa Royal Family will cultivate the emergence of a noble, and people-oriented Kabiyesi who will lead Ijebuland with honour and wisdom.
Meanwhile, some concerned authorities have called on the Ruling House to ensure transparency in the selection.
A resident of Imodi-Imosan simply identified as Pabiekun, in a demand titled,
“Actionable savagery — Pabiekun”, said: I was minding my business—literally babysitting my aching knees—while taking my evening stroll around my compound in Imodi-Imosan, when I ‘kofiri’ (sighted) a respected member of the Ijebu-ode kingmakers. I shouted my fraternity greetings. I then drew closer to the elderly fellow and asked the simple, sensible question every Ijebu mind is murmuring:
“What are the odds among the candidates, especially Wasiu K1, who is becoming the candidate to beat, especially on social media?”
His response?
Let us just say it was the type of answer that makes you wonder if the question was not more clear than the answer. In his thick unfiltered Ijebu-Ode accent that can slice yams without a knife, he said:
“Mi mọ ẹni re maa j’awujale o . Sugbon mo mo fo Wasiu re ma korin kaa ba ma bobayo! ( I don’t know who will become the Awujale but I am certain Wasiu will be on the bandstand at the Awujale coronation)
Haa! If bewilderment had weight, I would have sunk into the ground. I simply walked away quietly—because once the question becomes more beneficial than the answer, wisdom demands retreat.
Iru kileleyi…omo Anifowose? The throne is undecided, but the band already booked. If this is not actionable savagery, then what is?
Another resident who does not want his name in print said: I am proud to be part of the process that brought relief to Nigerians and particularly Ijebus on the Awujale succession.
We have highly credible professionals in the Fusengbuwa Royal Family.
The 12-man Management Committee of the family has two Fellow Chartered Accountants; Otunba Lateef Owoyemi and Otunba Akin Odedina. Two lawyers, Prof Chief Fassy Yusuf and my humble self, Asipa Adedoyin Banjo, and other professionals.
The candidates who will be nominated on Monday, 15th December, will tell a lot about the family.
Ijebuland is in safe hands.
While the Fusengbuwa Ruling House is preparing for the selection process, Citizens Compass has authoritatively revealed that the Fidipote Ruling House is at loggerheads following the declaration of Fuji maestro, Otunba Wasiu Adewale Olasunkanmi Adesanya, popularly known as Wasiu Ayinde K1 De Ultimate.
Citizens Compass reports that the Fidipotes have abruptly ended a meeting that commenced yesterday and was meant to continue today.
As at 7 p.m. on Friday, a source in Ijebu-Ode who pleaded anonymity quoted a family representative saying “an order from above suspended the meeting.”
