CITIZENS COMPASS— A few hours ago, a prominent son of the Fidipote Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State (names withheld), was removed from the family WhatsApp platform.
An investigation by Citizens Compass revealed that this Prince was the seventh member of the great family to be expunged from the WhatsApp platform since the commencement of the selection process to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Citizens Compass reports that the reason for expunging them was their opposition to the anomalies in the selection process, despite the Fidipotes having written to the government, claiming that the nomination of candidates had been unfairly allocated to them due to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House’s inability to meet the 14-day deadline to nominate candidates.
The latest family member that was expunged was a prominent figure in the political landscape of Nigeria.
Not minding his status, am Administrator of the family WhatsApp group has expunged him.
Meanwhile, Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has sought an order of Interim Injunction listing the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman, Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and Chairman, Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi as Respondents in the matter.
The motion, with Suit No Hc3/238/25 in the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division, Holding at Ijebu-Ode, was dated December 16, 2025.
The Suit restrains the Respondents, either by themselves, their Privies, assigns, agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any step in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit in this matter.
The Suit has Otunba Wasiu Olasunkanmi Ayinde Adesanya Marshal as the Applicant.
Citizens Compass learnt that a few days before filing the Suit, the Wasiu had sought the cooperation of some elders in the Fidipote Ruling House to meet with some aggrieved members of the family but the meeting was inconclusive due to certain factors.
Citizens Compass could authoritatively reveal that as of Thursday evening, some Fidipote family members were at loggerheads with some of their elders for not toeing the right path for the selection of candidates.
Recall that an 82-year-old prince, Otunba Omo Oba Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye Eruobodo, has exposed how some kingmakers were demanding cars, hard currencies, and other expensive gifts from the aspirants vying for the vacant stool.
Otunba Eruobodo recounted how some unqualified aspirants were on the center stage of the selection process, as the kingmakers focused attention on the wealthy ones at the expense of the qualified but less affluent sons of Ijebuland.
Otunba Eruobodo captured this in a viral video.
Due to public outcry, the Ogun State Government has nullified the ongoing selection process.
Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Prof. Fassy Yusuf, confirmed the development, explaining that the decision followed a meeting convened by the state government to address procedural lapses in the process.
The ongoing crisis has generated reactions from social media influencers including a prominent son of Ijebuland, Asipa Adedoyin Banjo, who wrote:
The Awujale is coming from Ule nla at Agunsebi, Ijebu Ode, whether they like it or not.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling Family last got the throne some 100 years ago, in 1925, through Oba Theophilus Adenuga Tunwase, Folagbade I.
But some wannabes feel they can truncate our turn; God is in charge.
That Fidipote’s procured letter is a declaration of war; at the appropriate time, we will respond in kind.
At press time, some sons and daughters of Ijebuland have called on the State and local governments, ruling houses, and kingmakers to ensure transparency.
