Abiru lauds council chairman for infrastructural development in Lagos

CITIZENS COMPASS—Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru on Wednesday, praised Mr Wasiu Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, for his efforts at infrastructural development, economic growth and the general welfare of Ikorodu residents.

Abiru made the commendation, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos,at the launch of the chairman’s biography during which the chairman gave an account of his stewardship.

Abiru was represented by his Personal Assistant, Dr Saheed Ibikunle.

He said he was glad that Adesina did much to ensure that the Ikorodu people had the dividends of democracy.

The senator urged the incoming administration in the council area to build on the achievements of the outgoing administration.

The lawmaker also urged Ikorodu people to always vote for the best candidates during elections.

Earlier, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, commended Adesina for efforts in grassroots development.

“Not many have that privilege of serving for years and still serve well. In the course of his journey, he did so many things as highlighted in his book.

In his remarks, Mr Johnson Babatunde, Chairman of Orile Agege council area of the state, who was the chief launcher of the book, emphasised the need to have records of achievements.

He said that such records would inspire others.

“This documentation can help subsequent administrations to do better,” he said.

Babatunde advised the incoming administration in the council area to build on the foundation laid by Adesina’s administration and deliver more dividends of democracy to the residents.

“The incoming administration does not need to go into the erroneous task of demolishing what has been put in place by the outgoing administration, but should improve on it,” he said.

In his remarks, the newly-elected Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Adedayo Ladega, promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor.

The Traditional Ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, commended the outgoing council chairman for touching people’s lives.

In his response, Adesina thanked leaders of the All Progressives Congress for support.

He advised that leaders should do their best to understand the needs of the people and do their best to meet the needs..

“Our tenure witnessed visible progress across several sectors – education, infrastructure, health, youth empowerment, market development and rural integration.

“We lit up our communities not just with electricity, but with hope. We built roads and trust. We provided interventions and, more importantly, we restored dignity to governance at the grassroots,” he said.

According to him, the book is a record of his service and achievements as well as a mirror of accountability.

The citizens compass reports that former Sen. Anthony Adefuye presented an award of excellence to Adesina, who he described as an exemplary teacher worthy of emulation.
