Adeyanju-led Ondo North group salutes Nigeria, Ondo State on Independence Day
CITIZENS COMPASS—The entire members of Imole Progressive Network, under the leadership of Engr. Mike Adeyanju, has expressed their congratulations to Nigeria and their state, Ondo, as the country marks its 65th year of becoming independent from colonial rule on Wednesday October 1, 2025.
Nigeria became independent following the struggle of some founding fathers named Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nmamdi Azikiwe for freedom from the British hegemony on their land, despite having been amalgamated in 1904 from hitherto structure of Northern and Southern protectorates controlled from the Colony of Lagos to them become Nigeria.
The dream of freedom was finally achieved on October 1, 1960 when the British rule ended and the country, officially founded on a three-region structure, was pronounced Independent Nigeria.
