Aroyewun grades 30 inner roads, upgrades health centres in Igbogbo-Baiyeku
… As communities wear new look within eight months

CITIZENS COMPASS— Within a period of eight months, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, has graded over 30 inner roads and uplifted the primary health care centers in the area.
It didn’t end there, the Council distributed free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB/UTME) forms to over 300 students as part of the GLORY Agenda in IBLCDA.
Citizens Compass reports that the LCDA is under the leadership of
Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun who assumed office in July 2025 after the Local Government election in the State.
Aroyewun presented the score cards at a Media Parley which was held at the Council Secretariat.
Addressing journalists at the event, he said: When we assumed office in July 2025, we met a number of pressing realities—challenging road conditions across inner communities, drainage concerns, gaps in primary healthcare delivery, and the growing expectations of a vibrant and forward-looking population.
We made a decision from day one: we would not govern by rhetoric—we would govern by results.
That commitment gave birth to a clear framework: the GLORY Agenda:
• Good Governance & Green Intervention
• Learning
• Optimal Wellness
• Roads & Physical Infrastructure
• Youth & Sports Development
Eight months later,
I am proud to say that this agenda is no longer just a vision, it is a lived experience for our people
In the area of infrastructure, we have graded over 30 inner roads across multiple CDAs, restoring access and easing movement within our communities. We have gone further to deliver full rehabilitation projects, including roads like Oliwo Amoju and Olayinka Streets, now complemented with solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety and night-time activity.
We have also intervened in critical areas like Ojubode Junction and Baiyeku Road, addressing long-standing challenges that affect daily life and commerce.
In healthcare, we have upgraded primary health centres, improved facility conditions, and strengthened access to basic services, because a healthy population is the foundation of a productive society.
In the area of social impact and economic relief, we have implemented targeted interventions, including the Oúnjẹ HOA Food and Cash Transfer Programme, designed to cushion the realities faced by vulnerable households, especially during critical periods.
For our youth, we have initiated engagement platforms, empowerment programmes, and capacity-building efforts, because we understand that the future of this LCDA must be built deliberately. We also purchased JAMB/UTME forms for over 300 students from across the LCDA, thereby affording them the opportunity to further their education.
Beyond projects, we have also focused on governance that listens, engaging communities, working closely with CDAs, and ensuring that development is inclusive, not selective.
But let me say this clearly:
We are not yet where we want to be, but we are firmly on the right path
The journey of development is continuous, and the expectations of our people remain high. That is why platforms like this are important.
Today, I am here not just to speak, but to listen.
Not just to present achievements, but to answer questions.
Not just to highlight progress, but to deepen trust.
Fielding questions from journalists on why his project cut across several CDAs and wards, he said, “It is a normal thing that the needs of the people are unlimited while the available resources are limited but how to share the resources is the main thing.
“There are five wards in Igbogbo/ Baiyeku and there is no ward that has not witnessed transformation since my assumption of office.
“We are being fair in our project dealings and no community is left behind though we cannot be in different areas at the same time.
So far, we are doing our best to reach our people as much as possible.”
On the fourth term agenda of a Member, Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Aroyewun has this to say:
In the history of Ikorodu Division, we have never had a representative like Honourable Jimi Benson because no House of Representatives member has surpassed him in-terms of achievements.
None has facilitated over 100 roads or facilitated over 30 buildings of classrooms across the Division. I cannot begin to count the numbers of hospitals, and youth empowerment programmes that he had facilitated.
“There are 30 wards in Ikorodu Division being one of the largest in the State and there are ongoing projects across the wards.”
