CITIZENS COMPASS— Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has withdrawn the Suit No Hc3/238/25, he filed in the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division restraining the Ogun State Government and other Respondents to continue with the process to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Recall that Wasiu Ayinde has sought an order of Interim Injunction listing the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman, Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and Chairman, Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi as Respondents in the matter.
Citizens Compass reported that the motion, with Suit No Hc3/238/25 in the High Court of Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division, Holding at Ijebu-Ode, was dated December 16, 2025.
The Suit restrains the Respondents, either by themselves, their Privies, assigns, agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any step in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit in this matter.
However, the presiding judge of High Court 3, Hon. Justice A. A. Omoniyi, yesterday, held that the Interim Injunction prayed for by the applicant lacked merit.
Ayinde had prayed the Court to restrain the respondents from proceeding with the processes to select candidates for the Awujale stool.
Meanwhile, Justice Omoniyi has fixed Wednesday, January 14, 2025, for proceedings just as he ordered an accelerated hearing of the matter.
However, Mr Ayinde has filed another notice to withdraw the matter.
The applicant is challenging the Awujale succession process, citing alleged breaches of the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law and violation of his constitutional right to fair hearing.
A notice of discontinuance dated December 22, 2025, and filed at the High Court in Ijebu Ode stated that Ayinde had formally declared his intention to discontinue the matter.
The notice titled, “Notice of Discontinuance,” reads: Take notice that the Claimant/Applicant herein wholly discontinues the above suit against the Defendant/Respondent pursuant to Order 23 (or relevant Order) of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and under the inherent jurisdiction of the Honourable Court.
Reasons for Discontinuance
The Applicant filed this suit following correspondences from the 2nd Respondent herein 2nd December, 2025–which correspondences have been withdrawn.
The Applicant respectively prays that the Honourable Court to record the discontinuance of this suit and makes orders as it seems fit
Dated 22nd day of December, 2025.
