CITIZENS COMPASS—World-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday, involved in an autocrash around Makun, near Sagamu area of Ogun State.
The autocrash claimed two lives.
According to eyewitnesses’ accounts, the accident occurred along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when Joshua was reportedly travelling in a Lexus SUV with number plate, KRD 850 HN.
The accounts said the vehicle collided with a stationary truck.
A video of the accident captured the boxing legend sitting unconscious in the accidented car surrounded by sympathisers who were seen shouting for help.
The video captured some traffic officers at the scene of the accident suggesting how to take some injured victims to the hospital.
The video suggested that Joshua sustained minor injuries at the scene of the accident while two occupants of the vehicle were confirmed dead on the spot.
Confirming the accident, the Ogun State Police Command in a statement signed by its spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said: The Ogun State Police Command confirms that world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road traffic accident today, Monday, December 29, 2025, at about 11:00 am, in Makun, Ogun State. The incident occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, just before Danco Filling Station, near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis.
The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated. He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene. The deceased have been conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue, Sagamu. The Ogun State Police Command extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assures the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has commenced.

FRSC reveals cause of accident
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has attributed the autocrash to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.
FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, stated this in a statement
