
Director dies four days to retirement, birthday
CITIZENS COMPASS—Tragedy struck in Ogun State when a female director in Lagos reportedly died four days to her retirement and 60th birthday.
The Director, Serifat Olubukola Talabi, who served with the Lagos State Government, was said to be knocked down by a vehicle on Saturday, October 18, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp in Ibafo, Ogun State.
She was the Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) and was due to officially retire on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the same day she had planned to hold a joint Thanksgiving, Retirement, and 60th Birthday celebration. Invitations for the event, which was scheduled to take place at the NERDC Conference Centre, Ikeja, had already been printed and distributed to friends, family, and colleagues.
The event was to be held from 11 a.m. on the said date, marking what was expected to be a joyful transition into a new phase of her life.
Sadly, her life was cut short in the tragic accident, leaving many in deep shock.
Burial arrangements released by her family indicate that a wake will be held on October 23, 2025, followed by a burial service on October 24, 2025. Both events will take place at 10 Ore-Ofe Street, Ara Hall Bus Stop, Ibafo, Ogun State.
