Elders Advisory Council rates Abiodun high on governance
CITIZENS COMPASS—The Governor’s Elders Advisory Council has scored the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun high in the implementation of its ISEYA mantra in the last six years.
The council also acknowledged the Ogun State Governor for giving the Olumo Rock Tourist Center the needed facelift, noting that the installation of world-class landing equipment at the Gateway International Airport is a testament to the leadership and administrative acumen of the Governor.
The Chairman of the council, Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo, made this known during the quarterly meeting of the Council held in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Chief Okuboyejo also commended the Executive Council of the state for approving the construction of the Ogbere-Orija-Bode junction in Ijebu East, Erelu to Imosan road in Odogbolu Local Government, Akute bridge to Agbado bridge in Ifo Local Government, Iperu to Ilishan road in Remo, Imashayi to Igan-Okoto in Yewa, and the Erinja to Ilobi road.
“We’ve reviewed the activities of the government, we’ve acknowledged where they are doing very well, and we’ve commended them and the benefits of our relationship with the Governor of the state. We’ve acknowledged it; as elders, we should recognize it.
“We will continue to do our duties, be loyal to the party, and give sound advice.
“He has been excellent; his last six years have been very excellent. You know, the Governor works with a mantra, and on each of those mantras, we in this council will score him A plus,” he said.
The Chairman also urged residents of the state to take ownership of infrastructures across the state by guarding them against vandalism.
“My advice to our people is that they should see themselves as the government; they should accept that whatever the government does, it is their own, not for any individual. If you see anybody doing anything wrong to government projects or property, you have a duty to say something; we shouldn’t keep quiet,” he said.
A former Deputy Governor in the state who is also a member of the Executive of the Advisory Council, Alhaja Salimot Badru, acknowledged the contribution of Governor Abiodun to the overall development of the state in terms of economic development, affirming that the Governor has made the council proud with the way and manner he has executed projects that have led to the overall development of the state.
“We’ve gone through all the projects that were done after our last meeting; we can see the construction of many roads, and we can see the airport equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
“We can see that the Olumo Rock Tourist Center has been given a facelift, and we are happy that the National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, was successful; the outing was marvelous.
