Ikorodu LG boss presents vehicles to aid markets’ administration

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on Friday, presented an official vehicle to the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu, Princess Busola Isikalu, to aid administration of markets in the area.

The Citizens Compass reports that an official vehicle was also presented to the Council Manager, Mr Johnson Agiri.

The presentation was held at the council’s secretariat.

Adesina said that this was part of his administration’s development plan, adding that he had also increased the number of shops at the sabo market, as well as ensured improved structures.

According to him, these shops have been given out for sale at good rates, and further hinted that these developments have made the market to be rated third best in Lagos State.

“My administration started in 2015 with the late Iyaloja, Alhaja Taofikat Allynson, advising us on different challenges of the market.

“When we came in, we found the Sabo market in a deplorable state; after our executive meeting, I decided to improve the market with standard structures.

“I constructed drainages, interlocking and installed solar lights to curb insecurity that attracted the presence of first lady, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu,” he said.

He, however, warned traders against indiscriminate dumping of refuse, or encouraging filthy environment.

According to him, “A clean environment enhances quality health, thereby improving lives.

“We want to ensure that we maintain a clean environment to improve our health and lifestyles; it is important we do this, to ensure that the younger ones imbibe such attitude for improved living,”

The chairman urged residents to always ensure cleanliness, and also beckoned on the local government staff, to extend the support and friendship accorded to him, to the incoming administration.

Meanwhile, he thanked the traders for their contributions, and urged them to double their votes for the APC party at the forthcoming council polls scheduled for July 12.

In her words of appreciation, the Iyaloja, (Isikalu), expressed gratitude to the chairman, for his unwavering support to women as well as the provision of an official vehicle to her office.

She said that the vehicle would go a long way to alleviating the hardship of the executives, and help in the smooth running of market affairs.
