LASEMA removes fallen tanker, recovers body of Okada rider from accident scene

CITIZENS COMPASS– LAGOS State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has removed the fallen petrol-laden tanker and recovered the body of the slain motorcyclist (Okada rider) at Alaba bus-stop, along Oshodi-Apaoa Expressway.

Recall that the truck and the motorcyclist collided on Tuesday evening and emergency response was activated immediately.

According to LASEMA Permanent Secretary in his updates, the emergency operation was completed at about 5.34am on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

He said, “The fallen PMS tanker had been put in a standing position while the motorcycle had also been removed, the commodity had been bodybagged by the LRT and handed over to State Health Environmental and Monitoring Unit (SHEMU) at the scene.”

At press time, the content was being transloaded into another truck.

“Transloading ongoing into another empty tanker provided by NUPENG official. Operation still ongoing.”

Citizens Compass reports that the fuel-laden tanker on Tuesday, allegedly crushed a commercial motorcyclist popularlly known as Okada rider to death in Mile 2 area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred at Alaba area, outbound Mile 2, along the Mile 2 – Oshodi Expressway.

it was learnt that many road users were stranded for hours as the axis was cordoned off pending when the emergency operation lasted.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident is his situation report.

Residents are urged to avoid any naked flame until the incident is contained.
