CITIZENS COMPASS—The Deputy Corps Marshal (Enforcement), of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI, Mr. Osifeso Oluwasegun, and 17 other operatives of the agency have retired from active service.
The 18 officers bowed out of service yesterday.
LAGESC held a send-forth ceremony for the 18 retiring operatives upon completion of their respective service years on Thursday in Lagos.
In his welcome address, Corps Marshal, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (Rtd) expressed total satisfaction with the service rendered by the operatives while on active duty as enforcement officers, according special recognition to the Deputy Corps Marshal (Enforcement), Mr. Osifeso Oluwasegun who was appointed by Mr. Governor as part of the Agency’s management team on January, 24th, 2024. Cole also said, ‘‘The Agency thanks each and every one of you for the unwavering hard work to the Lagos State Civil Service and I must thank Baba Oshi for being a worthy and dependent partner, brother and friend while it is my hope that you keep flourishing after retirement’’.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services (OES), Mr. Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen, ‘‘I want to thank everyone that has served the corps and from the bottom of our hearts, Mr. Governor asked us to tell you that what you have done this year and last year alone has changed the narrative of LAGESC. Major Cole has shown leadership, competence and direction and in furtherance of switching from the old norms, we believe the LAGESC leadership should include operatives, a move which has proven effective since Mr. Governor appointed two Deputy Corps Marshals from serving operatives’’.
Chairman, Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), CSP Adetayo Akerele congratulated the retiring operatives just as he revealed how the nature of KAI’s enforcement has been rebranded with improved professionalism, precision and best practices, hoping that the Agency will uphold the standard and maintain the good work.
Deputy Corps Marshal (Enforcement), Mr. Osifeso Oluwasegun in his appreciation message expressed gratitude to the State for affording him the opportunity to serve through the years, re-affirming his dedication to uphold the THEMES+ agenda of Mr. Governor to make Lagos habitable for business, a mandate which is upheld daily by the Agency via enforcement and advocacy.
The ceremony also had in attendance, erstwhile Corps Marshal, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (Rtd) and Deputy Corps Marshal (Intelligence), Alhaji Ganiyu Salami. Expressing their delight, they extolled the virtue of retiring operatives and urged them to remain active in their communities and embrace healthy lifestyle choices.
