CITIZENS COMPASS– Police in Lagos have arrested a man, Jackson Abraham, for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s car in Ogun State.
Operatives of Ebute Ero Division in Lagos State, have apprehended the suspect and recovered the car.
Jackson was intercepted while in possession of the vehicle, which was recovered during a routine surveillance patrol.
Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this in a statement, on Wednesday, said the arrest and recovery occurred when patrol officers, acting on reasonable suspicion, intercepted the suspect with a Mitsubishi Space vehicle, ash in colour. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect removed the vehicle from a park in Ogun State without the consent of the rightful owner, who coincidentally resides at the same address as the suspect. The vehicle was promptly recovered intact and has since been taken to the station.
The rightful owner, who had earlier reported the vehicle missing in Ogun State, has since been contacted and is fully cooperating with ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody as preparations are underway to transfer both the suspect and the recovered vehicle to the Ogun State Police Command, where the case was originally reported and is currently under investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling vehicle theft and ensuring public safety. He urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, stressing that public cooperation is key to effective crime prevention and recovery efforts.
