CITIZENS COMPASS— A fatal accident has occurred in Bayelsa State when some passengers were on their way to attend the burial of the late Deputy Governor of the State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
The accident involved an 18-seater bus as the accident occurred along the Toru-Orua axis, Sagbama–Ekeremor Road area of the State.
Reports said about 10 people have lost their lives while some others were injured and were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo lost his life untimely on December 11, 2025, at the age of 60.
He was said to have slumped in his office at the Government House, Yenagoa.
His burial was scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, in his hometown, Ofoni, Sagbama Local Government Area.
A Day of Tributes was held in his honour which attracted prominent figures like former President Goodluck Jonathan and a host of others.
