PCRC donates desktop phones to DPOs as Lagos CP approves permanent phone numbers

CITIZENS COMPASS – For Lagos State Police Command, the era of changing numbers whenever a Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) is redeployed is gradually becoming a thing of the past as the Police Public Relations Committee (PCRC), has donated desktop phones to all Divisions of the Command.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade has in turn introduced permanent phone numbers to the Divisions

in a remarkable move to provide a more stable channel of communication between the public and the police.

According to the spokesman for the Command,  SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Monday, January 10, 2024, the Command has also acquired hundreds of telephone lines to be permanently assigned to the offices of DPOs and other strategic officers.

The statement reads, “This move phases out the old era where the personal phone numbers of these strategic officers are used for official communication/ assignments, resulting in communication barriers whenever these officers are redeployed.

“With the new arrangement, numbers remain permanently attached to particular offices such that with the redeployment of the occupants of such officers, the phone numbers remain the same.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade mni, has taken this step to provide improved access, quicker response times and enhanced communication for the good people of Lagos State,”

Commending PCRC for the donation, he said, “CP Fayoade equally commends the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Lagos State Command, under the leadership of Apostle Kehinde Showemimo, for magnanimously providing desktop phones to all police divisions within the state for the use of the newly introduced phone lines.

“The CP noted that this gesture will go a long way in consolidating the commitment of the Command in engaging with communities and creating a safer environment for everyone in the state.”
