Strike: Labour addresses workers on next step

CITIZENS COMPASS –The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has asked its members not to embark on industrial action on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, to demand a new national minimum wage.

NLC President Joe Ajaero, said this during a press conference on Monday.

He said the figures the Tripartite Committee came up with are currently being examined by President Bola Tinubu, noting that the workers are yet to accept the proposed N62,000 minimum wage by the government.

He said, “We cannot declare a strike now because the figures are with the President. We will wait for the President’s decision.

“During the tenure of the immediate past president, the figure that was proposed to him was N27,000 by the tripartite committee but he increased it to N30,000. We are hopeful that this president will do the right thing,” Ajaero said.
