CITIZENS COMPASS— Delta State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered some exhibits around Bomadi, Asaba, and Ubeji communities.
The Command equally recorded some jaw-breaking breakthroughs as updated by its spokesperson, Bright Edafe on Friday.
Edafe said the Command recovered 178 live cartridges during the operations.
According to him, “On 30th October 2025 at about 1230 hrs, operatives of the Bomadi Division, under the command of DPO, CSP Adie Peter Bissong, while on a joint stop-and-search operation with the Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road. The cyclist, who appeared uneasy, was conveying a 62-year-old woman, later identified as Charter Timide, to Tuomo Community. Upon a thorough search, officers discovered a concealed sack containing one hundred and seventy-eight (178) live cartridges neatly packed for delivery.
When interrogated, the suspect admitted purchasing the cartridges from Onitsha Main Market, a hub long known for its bustling trade. Her confession immediately triggered further intelligence follow-up to uncover the destination and purpose of the ammunition. The suspect and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Headquarters for discreet investigation to trace possible links to armed groups or black-market suppliers.”
Another breakthrough recorded by the Command was an arrest of suspected kidnappers and rescue of kidnapped victims.
“On 30th October 2025 at about 1140 hrs, the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division received a distress report of a suspected kidnapping incident at Ubeji Community, behind the Ubeji Gas Plant. Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ekpan Division, CSP Labe Joseph, deployed a team of detectives and patrol operatives to the scene.
“On sighting the approaching police teams, the suspected kidnappers fled into an abandoned poultry house within the same community. The DPO’s team swiftly cordoned off the area, leading to the arrest of the following suspects, all of Ubeji Community: Felix Omone (m, 33), Solomon Omone (m, 29), Tony Eboye (m, 34), Omone David (m, 32), Jerry Omone (m, 33), Godspower Omone (m, 25), Edewho Bomele (m, 33). The operation also led to the successful rescue of three male victims, all of Jeddo Community, who were safely reunited with their families.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were abducted at a dredging site in Ubeji, ferried across the river, and later contacted with threats that they would be killed if certain demands were not met. All arrested suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices and recover any weapons or equipment used in the operation.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives involved in the successful operations. He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to curbing the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery, and illicit arms proliferation in Delta State. The CP urged the public to remain security-conscious, avoid shielding criminals, and promptly report suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station or the Command Control Room through 08036684974.”
