Security patrol nabs two suspected thieves, vandals in Ogun 

CITIZENS COMPASS  —RESIDENTS of Oke-Ejigbo in Abeokuta area of Ogun State have thronged the Oke Itoku Division of Ogun State Police Command to identify some of their belongings stolen by some suspected thieves.

This is just as the Joint security patrol in the State has apprehended two suspected thieves while patrolling some nooks and crannies in the State. 

The suspects were Kolawole Shobowale “m”  and Moruf Soyoye “m”  who were apprehended at Oke Ejigbo at about 0630hrs on Sunday, August 20, 2023. 

Earlier, there were several complainants by Oke Ejigbo residents, to CSP Hadiza Abu Oganyi about incessant breaking and entry into their shops, and homes. 

The complaints claimed there was no clue or links to the masterminds behind the wreck, that has continued in the axis till Sunday, August 20, 2023. 

However, intelligence was exchanged by one Commander Lawal Mudashiru “m” of So Safe Corps which ked to the arrest of the suspecs. 

In their confessional statement, the suspected thieves, admitted to have been involved in breaking and entry into a dwelling house, and other houses, unfortunately three of them were sighted  by So Safe. 

It was learnt that So Safe Corps trailed the suspects to their houses and cordoned off the places, leading to the arrest of two of them. 

Items recovered were: a Live Turkey, plasma TV, two speakers, one socket extention and  two hand saw. 

Others are three remote control, three liters of vegetable oil, 10 liters of palm oil and 25 liters of vegetable oil among others. 

Members of the community have continued to throng the Oke Itoku Division to identify some of their stolen items since the information filtered into the air. 

Spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said the matter will be sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more details and further charge the two to Court and will also trace the other fleeing suspects. 

Similarly, some youths in Iwopin area of the State have apprehended some armoured cable vandals in the area. 

Citizens Compass learnt that four men suspected to be vandals were sighted cutting the cables from an electric pole at Igbolile street, Iwopin. 

This prompted the action of the OC Marine in the area, SP Ebietomiye Adeleke to immediately mobilise his team to the scene of crime.

Three suspected vandals were arrested, one took to his heels, while two motorcycles used to convey the stolen items was recovered, 3 button phones, 1 android phone, 2 iron cables cutters, clothes and repulsive charm. 

The trio of Saliu Ashimiu “m” 26 yrs, Awolu Ibrahim “m” 25yrs, and Ibrahim Saliu Ibrahim “m” 25yrs of of Oni village via IWOPIN were caught disengaging one end of the cable tripping off electric supply from a portion of the community. The transformer is a property of IBEDC installed to power electricity, but the suspected scavenger who have confessed to the crime said they are not employees of IBEDC neither are they officials of Power Holding Company of Nigeria.

According to the spokesperson, “Vandals deliberately and willfully damage and destroy public or private property meant for the common enjoyment of the public, these young persons cannot claim ignorance of the law, because these would not be their first time, on conviction, they risk a jail term. 

“They will be charged to Court accordingly and the other suspect who escaped will surely be tracked and arrested.”
