Side attractions of 2025 council elections in Lagos

CITIZENS COMPASS— The Lagos State Local Government and Local Council Development Area elections on Saturday, witnessed low turn-out of voters across many polling units.

Although the state governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu commended the elections as being peaceful, there were lamentations about late arrival of election materials at some polling units.

It was observed that places like Lekki-Epe, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Abule Egba, Agege, Alimosho, Kosofe, Oshodi, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Ikeja to mention but a few witnessed low turn-out of voters as the polling units were scanty.

Residents complained of late arrival of election materials as the polling units appeared to be deserted.

Some residents expressed lack of confidence in the elections.

In some of the areas visited, some residents were seen playing games in their homes.

The polling units witnessed tight security during the elections.

Some supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have reportedly assaulted a Labour Party, LP, polling agent, Spencer Dominic, at Polling Unit 027, along Yaya Abatan Road in the Ogba area of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, is currently maintaining an early lead as the polls ended at about 3pm while sorting and results were ongoing across the state.
