Aroyewun holds strategic meeting with sports experts
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Council Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, yesterday, held a strategic meeting with the who’s and whos at the Lagos State Sports Commission, to strengthen the sports ecosystem in the LCDA.
The Chairman held the strategic meeting with the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, alongside key stakeholders, including Mr. Deji Aladegbemi (Director of Facilities), Mr. Tunde Durosimi, Mr. Solomon Adetokunbo, Mr. Biliamin OBA (SSA to the Governor on Social Development), and Mr. Oladapo Lawanson, a certified sports administrator and co-owner of Comfort-Edge Football Club. The engagement focused on building stronger partnerships and developing practical, impactful strategies for sports advancement and social development within IBLCDA.
The meeting reinforced the administration’s deliberate investment in youth development through sports, with priority initiatives to include:
• Provision of essential sports facilities across primary schools in all five wards of the LCDA.
• Organization of the annual IBLCDA Sports Meet across Igbogbo, Ibeshe, Elepe, Baiyeku, Oreta, and Offin-Ile.
• Structured management and financial support for all IBLCDA sports teams and competitions.
• Establishment of a standard Sports Club to nurture and harness local talents.
This strategic engagement with the Lagos State Sports Commission marks a significant milestone in the Chairman’s resolve to create a vibrant and enabling environment where young people can discover, develop, and maximize their sporting potential.
The administration remains steadfast in its vision of building empowered youths, structured sports development, and a sustainable pathway to excellence for Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
