
Electricity staff electrocuted
CITIZENS COMPASS– An electricity worker with Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), was reported electrocuted while carrying out an assignment in Ibadan, Oyo State.
A viral video on Thursday, captured the moment.
It could not be ascertained if he was on official duty as neither the company nor law enforcement agents has issued a statement.
The video captured how he became stuck atop an electric pole, visibly unresponsive, as horrified bystanders watched helplessly from below. The atmosphere was tense as passersby looked on in distress, waiting for help to arrive.
Moments later, his colleagues dared the consequences by rescuing him.
The victim was eventually brought down and rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, where he is currently receiving medical attention according to reports.
At press time, the condition of the injured technician remains unclear. Neither IBEDC nor emergency responders have issued an official statement regarding the events that caused its sfaff to be electrocuted.
The development is bound to raise apprehension over the safety guidelines for electricity workers and procedures to ensure their safety in the work place.
