Lagos CP Jimoh visits Area M
CITIZENS COMPASS— Since his assumption of office about eight months ago as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has been very busy ensuring that the men and officers of the No. 1 internal security agency, Nigeria Police under his command are up and doing with the mandate to keep Lagos State in law, order, peace, and security.
The senior management down to the rank and file across all divisions, units, and squads of the Lagos State Police Command are all actively involved in the work, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, (NAOSNP) can report.
This is why though CP Olohundare Jimoh has touched base in work mode with virtually all Area Commands under him, he has not been able to fully accomplish the official familiarization tour which typically begins the tenure of CPs in the command.
To accentuate this fact, it will be recalled that two weeks ago, CP Olohundare Jimoh led a crackdown of a robbery gang specialized in stealing cars in the Idimu area command. Over the weekend, however, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh was represented by the DCP in charge of Administration, DCP Salihu Khan and DCP in charge of State CID, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin to achieve his first official visit to the Area M Command under the leadership of the gallant Policewoman with sterling qualities, Area Commander, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda.
The official familiarization tour organized by Area M officers was held with pomp at the Area M Command conference hall inside the Command Headquarters, Idimu. It was attended by the Chairmen of LCDAs under Alimosho Local Government; all the Divisional Police Officers under the Area M Command; Chairman of PCRC Lagos State, Apostle Kehinde Showemimo; PCRC executives and members in Area M; traditional rulers that cut across all the ethnic groups, businessmen, artisans, captains of industry, market men and women among others. Representatives of sister security agencies were also present at the event.
The Lagos CP, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh who spoke through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DC Salihu Khan commended the officers and men of Area ‘M’ for their dedication, professionalism and consistent efforts in ensuring peace and security within their jurisdiction.
The Police boss emphasized the Command’s strategic importance to the Lagos State security architecture and assured that more support, logistics and training opportunities would be extended to enhance their operational effectiveness.
Addressing newsmen briefly, CP Khan on the Ember months preparations, ‘this December 2025 is going to be one of the most peaceful Decembers Lagos State has ever experienced. Last year, the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos State performed well according to the expressions of the various visitors that came into Lagos. We are improving upon the strategy we adopted last year, in order to see that the little gaps that we were caught are no longer seen.’
When asked to rate ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, DCP Khan stated: ‘Our books of scriptures said that you cannot praise yourself. Though I am one of their supervisors as a senior police officer, I had wanted to rate her but I said that I will wait until I hear from the public. And I can say it is exactly what the people said about Area M. So what the people told me today is that Area M is performing and I have no reason to say otherwise.’
In her speech to receive the Lagos CP, the Area M Commander, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda said: ‘I welcome the man of the moment, my Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, well represented by our able Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of Admin, DCP Khan Salihu alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin. He is a man whose words were always etched in stones, he’s adaptable, innovative, strategic, intelligent operationally, unique in his leadership, and a stylish personality. His speech speaks volumes, and he dominates his autonomy, orientation, and thoughts. Your presence illustrates your leadership, commitment, and the overwhelming dedication to the goals they provide.’
‘The demand for Police has tremendously increased, including awareness and regular briefing and stakeholders’ meetings. Our officers have demonstrated dedication and commitment to maintaining the current event of regular off-siege training and my leadership in professionalizing, leading to learning from the best, simply for gains. A tough, reformed, prepared, and balanced process, which I have gone through and will always do, all have a place in my everyday, day-to-day life.’
Pledging her commitment to the leadership of the CP, Abaniwonda said: ‘We assure you of our coordination, cooperation, and transparency with the set mind of being corrected and growth as ours, and we are delighted to keep to the police qualities, procedures, and practices and your command to community, and response to community. We understand that your office is there at assessing our operational capabilities, improvements, and fostering collaboration.’
‘May I humbly request a standing ovation for the CP of Lagos State, for his tireless efforts and dedication to Lagos State in its strides. I am amazed at your support to all of us, sir. We will use our total commitment to upholding rights for all sides, to show integrity and honesty in this job, to make Lagos State and the Nigeria Police Force to be reckoned with always. We pledge to ensure safety and security for all communities,’ Abaniwonda concluded.
She also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of traditional rulers, community leaders and critical stakeholders, who have continued to make policing a shared responsibility and a service beneficial to all.
