More trouble for PDP as senators dump party, join APC
CITIZENS COMPASS—There were more cracks in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, as four of its senators has declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was announced during plenary at the National Assembly, with Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, reading out their letters on the Senate floor.
The lawmakers who jumped ship are from Akwa Ibom and Osun States. They include Senator Etim Aniekan Bassey (Akwa Ibom North East), Senator Sampson Ekong Akpan (Akwa Ibom South), Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East), and Senator Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi (Osun Central).
It was gathered that their exit adds to the growing list of defections rocking the PDP, as the party continues to lose key members to the APC and, in some cases, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The latest move signals deepening cracks within the PDP as the race towards 2027 heats up.
