Radio callers speak about late radio presenter, Aremu Raji 

…Growing up in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS— The President of the Radio and Television Callers Association of Nigeria, Alhaja Abolore Yusuf Owolewa popularly known as Alhaja Chicago, on Sunday, said the vacuum left behind by the popular Yoruba presenter, High Chief Aremu Olatunde Raji popularly known as Owo Oko Idileke, would be too difficult to fill.

Alhaja Abolore spoke with Citizens Compass in a telephone conversation describing Aremu’s death as a big blow to the association.

The eighth-Day Fidau prayer for the popular presenter takes place on Friday, December 5, 2025.

This was contained in a leaflet sighted by Citizens Compass on Sunday.

The leaflet urged interested participants to contact a colleague of the deceased, Mayowa Adedenbu popularly known as

Ghana Boy for the direction to the venue of the Fidau prayer.

Alhaja Abolore said Chief Aremu Raji would be remembered for hard work and selflessness.

According to her, “Aremu Raji hailed from the Balogun Family in Iba, Eburu area of Osun State.

“He attended both primary and secondary schools in Ikorodu and was working with a petrol station before he became a Personal Assistant to a popular Yoruba presenter, Alhaji Ibraheem Adesola Aremu popularly known as Akamara.”

Alhaja Abolore said Aremu rose from the position of a Personal Assistant to become an independent presenter with Tungba 100.9FM where he was anchoring a Yoruba programme, Gbankangbi.

“About 14 years ago, myself and Aremu were instrumental to the birth of the Radio and Television Callers Association and the third meeting was held in his house where about 100 members joined the association.

“He will be remembered for good.”

A member of the Radio and Television Callers Association, Adeleke Moronfolu described Aremu Raji as one of his loyalists. “This is a death too many. Aremu Raji was there for me at the darkest hour of my life.” Said the radio caller.

Colleagues of Aremu have taken to social media to mourn him. One of them, Otunba Mohammed Adekunle, wrote, “I can’t still believe you are gone for ever

Citizens Compass reported that Chief Aremu Olatunde Raji reportedly died in an auto crash on the night of Thursday, November 27, 2025, on his way to Lagos from Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Citizens Compass reported that he was buried on Friday, November 28, according to Muslim rights in the Gberigbe, Ikorodu area of the State.

The indigene of Osun State, was an independent presenter with Tungba 100.9FM, Ita-Oluwo, Sagamu Local Government, Ogun State.

He was the presenter of a Yoruba investigative programme, Gbankangbi Iririaye with the radio station.

The programme was being aired on Wednesdays between 10 30 p.m and 11 30 p.m.

He attended Shams-El-Deen Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Lagos State

Aremu was known for his versatility and selfishness while undergoing training under the tutelage of a popular independent presenter, Ibrahim Raji popularly known as Akamara.

He was said to have anchored this week’s edition of his programme and travelled to Abeokuta, Ogun State for a function before the news of his death was broken in the early hours of Friday.

Until his death, Aremu who was in his Fifties was the Odofin Isegun in Moro Ogijo, Ogun State.
