Council chair, AKOD to tackle insecurity in Ikeja

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Monday, presided over the monthly Peace and Security Council Meeting held at his Ikeja House Office with a promise to tackle security challenges in the area.

The meeting was well attended by all Heads of Security Agencies operating within the local government, alongside key community stakeholders including the Chairperson of the Community Development Committee (CDC), the representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the representative of the League of Imams, and the Regent of Ikeja.

During the session, the security chiefs provided comprehensive briefings on the security situation across Ikeja over the past month; highlighting major developments, challenges encountered, proactive measures taken, and the progress achieved in maintaining law and order.

In his remarks, Chairman AKOD commended the security agencies for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and property, and for sustaining the relative peace Ikeja continues to enjoy. He urged them to remain vigilant and proactive, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering support and collaboration in addressing security concerns.

The meeting concluded on a strong note of partnership, as both the local government and the security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the community and upholding their constitutional responsibilities towards a safer and more peaceful Ikeja.
