Igbogbo-Baiyeku distributes free 300 JAMB/UTME forms
CITIZENS COMPASS— Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, yesterday, distributed 300 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration forms to indigent students across the council area, reaffirming its commitment to human capital development.
IBLCDA is under the leadership of Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Students’ Union, is aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians while expanding opportunities for students to pursue tertiary education. The programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the THEME+ Agenda of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, both of which prioritise education, empowerment, and inclusive development.
Representing the Executive Chairman at the event, the Chief Whip of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Saidat Adeoba, charged beneficiaries to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to academic excellence. She encouraged them to read diligently, avoid distractions, and make productive use of the opportunity, stressing that the support was designed to enable them secure admission this year and not as a recurring benefit.
In her address, the Head of Department of Education, Mrs. Yemisi Osoba, assured the students of the Council’s commitment to building a brighter future for young people. She urged them to uphold good conduct, resilience, and dedication to their studies, regardless of challenges.
Similarly, the Director of Studies (ISU), Comrade Quadri Uthman Atebishe, explained that the programme specifically targets students who are academically prepared but financially constrained. He commended the Chairman for his consistent support for education and advised beneficiaries to approach their preparations with discipline, determination, and integrity.
To ensure seamless registration, Mr. Abdulmalik Yunus, President of the Igbogbo Students’ Union, alongside Miss Ogunbiyi Hafsoh, Speaker of the Union’s Representative Council, conducted an orientation session, guiding the students on accurate form completion and cautioning them against errors that could jeopardise their admission chances.
The initiative once again underscores the resolve of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA administration to promote equitable access to education and create sustainable pathways for youth development, as beneficiaries were encouraged to justify the investment by excelling in their examinations and securing admission into higher institutions
